café chez panisse an Interior Designer's Perspective
As an interior designer, I have had the pleasure of working with clients who share my passion for creating beautiful and functional spaces. One of my favorite projects to date has been designing for café chez panisse, a beloved institution in the heart of the city. In this blog post, I'll share my perspective on what makes café chez panisse so special and how I approached designing for this unique space.
When I first walked into café chez panisse, I was struck by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The space is filled with natural light, thanks to the large windows that overlook the bustling streets outside. The walls are adorned with vintage posters and artwork, adding a touch of whimsy and personality to the space. As an interior designer, I knew that I had to incorporate these elements into my design while also creating a cohesive and functional space.
One of the first things I did was to choose a paint color that would complement the existing decor. I opted for a soft, creamy white that would provide a clean and neutral backdrop for the rest of the design. Next, I selected a few key furniture pieces that would add texture and interest to the space. A plush sectional sofa in a rich, dark gray was the perfect addition, as it provided a cozy spot for customers to sit and relax. I also chose a few modern chairs with clean lines and a minimalist aesthetic to add a touch of sophistication to the space.
Window treatments were also a key consideration in my design. I opted for a combination of curtains and blinds to provide both privacy and light control. The curtains were made of a lightweight, sheer material that allowed natural light to filter in while also providing a touch of elegance to the space. The blinds were made of a durable, sustainable material that would withstand the wear and tear of daily use.
Another important aspect of my design was incorporating sustainable design elements. As an interior designer, I believe that it's essential to create spaces that are not only beautiful but also environmentally friendly. To achieve this, I chose materials and products that were sustainable and eco-friendly. For example, I selected a custom cabinetry system made from reclaimed wood, which not only added a touch of rustic charm to the space but also reduced waste and supported sustainable forestry practices.
Lighting fixtures were also a key consideration in my design. I opted for a combination of table lamps and floor lamps to provide both task and ambient lighting. The lamps were made of a durable, sustainable material that would withstand the wear and tear of daily use. I also chose a few decorative lighting fixtures, such as a stunning chandelier made from recycled glass, to add a touch of elegance to the space.
As an interior designer, I believe that it's essential to create spaces that are not only beautiful but also functional. To achieve this, I worked closely with the café's owners to understand their needs and preferences. We discussed everything from the layout of the space to the type of furniture and decor that would be used. By working together, we were able to create a space that was not only beautiful but also functional and efficient.
One of the most challenging aspects of my design was incorporating industrial design elements. The café's owners wanted to maintain the industrial feel of the space while also incorporating more modern and sleek elements. To achieve this, I chose a combination of industrial and modern materials and products. For example, I selected a few industrial-style lighting fixtures, such as metal pendant lamps, to add a touch of ruggedness to the space. I also chose a few modern furniture pieces, such as a sleek and minimalist coffee table, to add a touch of sophistication to the space.

Throughout the design process, I kept in mind the importance of Feng Shui principles. I made sure to place the furniture in a way that would create a sense of flow and harmony in the space. I also chose colors and materials that would promote a sense of calm and relaxation. By incorporating these principles, I was able to create a space that was not only beautiful but also peaceful and inviting.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my design was seeing the final result. The café's owners were thrilled with the space, and it quickly became a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. As an interior designer, there's no greater joy than seeing a space come to life and knowing that you've played a role in creating it.
