Feed the Hungry Sacramento: An Interior Designer's Perspective

As an interior designer, I've had the privilege of working with clients from all walks of life, including those who are passionate about giving back to their community. One organization that has caught my attention is Feed the Hungry Sacramento, a non-profit that aims to provide meals to those in need. In this blog post, I'll share my perspective on how interior design can make a difference in the lives of those affected by hunger, and how you can get involved.
Interior Designer Takes on Feed the Hungry Sacramento

As an interior designer, I've always been drawn to projects that allow me to make a positive impact on people's lives. When I learned about Feed the Hungry Sacramento, I knew I had to get involved. The organization's mission to provide meals to those in need resonated deeply with me, and I was excited to see how my skills could be used to support their cause.

One of the ways I've been able to contribute is through my interior design services. I've worked with clients who are passionate about giving back to their community, and I've helped them create spaces that not only reflect their personal style but also support their philanthropic efforts. For example, I recently worked with a client who was involved with Feed the Hungry Sacramento and wanted to create a home office that would allow her to work remotely while still supporting the organization's mission.

Together, we designed a space that was both functional and beautiful. We chose a modern furniture piece with a Scandinavian minimalist aesthetic, which provided a clean and uncluttered backdrop for her work. We also incorporated sustainable design elements, such as a living wall and a reclaimed wood desk, to reflect the organization's commitment to environmental sustainability.

But my work with Feed the Hungry Sacramento doesn't stop at interior design. I've also been involved in fundraising efforts, including hosting a charity event at my design studio. The event, which featured a silent auction and a raffle, raised over $5,000 for the organization. It was an incredible feeling to see so many people come together to support a cause that is so close to my heart.

So, how can you get involved with Feed the Hungry Sacramento? One way is to volunteer your time. The organization relies heavily on volunteers to help with meal preparation, distribution, and other tasks. You can also donate money or goods, such as non-perishable food items or household essentials. And, of course, you can spread the word about the organization's mission and encourage others to get involved.

As an interior designer, I've seen firsthand the impact that a well-designed space can have on people's lives. Whether it's a home office, a living room, or a kitchen, a beautiful and functional space can provide a sense of comfort, relaxation, and inspiration. And, as we work to address the issue of hunger in our community, I believe that interior design can play a critical role in supporting this effort.

Window Treatments: A Key Element in Interior Design

Window treatments are a crucial element in interior design, as they can greatly impact the overall aesthetic and functionality of a space. When it comes to Feed the Hungry Sacramento, I've found that window treatments can also play a critical role in creating a sense of warmth and comfort. For example, I recently worked with a client who wanted to create a cozy and inviting living room that would be perfect for hosting friends and family. We chose a beautiful velvet drapery with a subtle pattern, which added depth and texture to the space. We also incorporated a statement piece of furniture, such as a plush sectional sofa, to create a sense of comfort and relaxation.

But window treatments aren't just about aesthetics – they can also be functional. For example, I've worked with clients who have large windows that let in a lot of natural light, but also allow for a view of the outside. In these cases, I've used window treatments like plantation shutters or roller shades to block out the light and create a sense of intimacy. And, of course, there are also window treatments like blinds or curtains that can be used to add a pop of color or pattern to a space.

Paint Color: A Key Element in Interior Design

Paint color is another critical element in interior design, as it can greatly impact the overall aesthetic and mood of a space. When it comes to Feed the Hungry Sacramento, I've found that paint color can also play a critical role in creating a sense of warmth and comfort. For example, I recently worked with a client who wanted to create a cozy and inviting bedroom that would be perfect for relaxing and unwinding. We chose a soothing paint color, such as a light blue or a soft gray, which added a sense of calm and serenity to the space. We also incorporated a statement piece of furniture, such as a plush area rug or a comfortable reading chair, to create a sense of comfort and relaxation.

But paint color isn't just about aesthetics – it can also be functional. For example, I've worked with clients who have rooms with low ceilings or small windows, and we've used paint color to create the illusion of more space. We've also used paint color to create a sense of continuity between different rooms or areas of a space.
