I start by studying the home’s structural and stylistic bones, the neighborhood’s visual language, and the client’s daily rhythms, then weave in materials that feel both organic and luxurious, such as reclaimed wood, locally sourced stone, and handcrafted metalwork, paired with understated elegance like matte finishes, textured linens, and warm lighting. In Happy Valley, where privacy and outdoor living are highly valued, I often design seamless transitions between interior and exterior spaces, incorporating features like covered patios, fire pits surrounded by natural stone, and lush, low-maintenance gardens that complement the home’s scale. For the more established homes in Burton and Reliez Valley, I focus on thoughtful updates that preserve their historic essence, such as restoring original woodwork or updating vintage fixtures, while adding modern conveniences like integrated storage or adaptive lighting that enhances the home’s flow and usability.
