Here, homes are built into the landscape, with expansive windows framing vistas of redwoods and open space, while the Highlands and Meadow Glen offer more intimate, tree-lined settings where classic details, exposed beams, built-ins, and warm wood tones, create a sense of enduring craftsmanship. Unlike the sleek, glass-heavy modernism of Palo Alto or the bold, contemporary statements of San Francisco’s Pacific Heights, Millbrae’s homes whisper elegance: a quiet sophistication that feels both intentional and effortless.

My methodology for Millbrae starts with respecting the bones of the home, whether it’s a 1960s ranch with original built-ins or a more recent custom build with a strong connection to the outdoors. I focus on layering textures and materials that honor the neighborhood’s aesthetic: think rich, natural wood cabinetry paired with matte black hardware, or terrazzo floors that ground a space while nodding to the area’s Mid-Century roots. Lighting is key, warm, diffused glow from fixtures like Sputnik chandeliers or sculptural floor lamps softens the dramatic angles of hillside homes, while outdoor living spaces (often the heart of Millbrae entertaining) get equal attention with weather-resistant materials that feel equally refined indoors. I also prioritize flow, ensuring that the home’s layout, whether it’s an open-concept great room or a more traditional layout, feels intentional, not forced.
